Are you looking for a way to give back to our nation's veterans? Do you have one hour per week to donate your yoga teaching skills to veterans and their families? We Need You!
In this workshop you will learn about G.I. Yoga, its background, why we are focusing specifically veterans, what is special about this population and why we include caregivers and families. It will go into trauma informed/sensitive yoga, and why all yoga should be. We will cover PTSD, anxiety and what they look like and how to teach techniques to help alleviate symptoms and more.
GI Yoga provides free yoga to military veterans and their families. Attend this training to learn about the basics of trauma-sensitive yoga, how to adapt a yoga class for veterans, and how to safely and effectively provide the tools of yoga to those living with PTS and TBI, caretaker exhaustion and general stress. This training will prepare you to set up your own free class in your area.
To become a certified instructor for GI Yoga we require Yoga Alliance certified 200 hours RYT, CPR certification and proof of yoga teacher insurance. You are not required to be a yoga teacher to take the training, but will not be eligible to receive the certification.
There is a discount on the training for military veterans. Please contact Kate Fleming for details: firstname.lastname@example.org. Fees for the training are rolled back into the program to purchase yoga mats, blocks etc. for classes.
